About Clinical Empathy

Clinical Empathy is an independent educational project focused on communication in healthcare — helping clinicians, patients, and caregivers reflect on how people listen, explain, respond, and understand one another.

Mission and purpose

Clinical Empathy develops practical, evidence-informed educational tools for reflecting on healthcare communication. The aim is not to score people against population norms, but to make communication patterns easier to notice and discuss.qqq

Evidence and limitations

The self-assessments on this site are original educational reflection tools. They are not psychometrically validated measures of clinical competence, patient experience, or quality of care, and they should not be used for credentialing or fitness-to-practise decisions.

The project is being developed iteratively, with early pilot feedback used to improve clarity, usefulness, and the experience of completing the tools.
